Regal Developments licence cancelled
The Office of Fair Trading today cancelled building contractor’s licence 207029C in the name of Regal Developments Australia Pty Ltd of Broadmeadow (ACN 131 401 717).
Regal Developments took over previously unfinished work of Excellence Homes in July 2008 and is believed to have 23 contracts with consumers, at various stages of completion.
Fair Trading Commissioner Lyn Baker said the Regal Developments licence had been cancelled because the company had been operating without a qualified supervisor since 12 May 2009 and the 30 day period for it to employ a new qualified supervisor expired today.
“The company closed its doors at 17A, Denney Street, Broadmeadow on 14 May this year,” she said.
“Fair Trading has been investigating the company and has been examining the financial records of the company to assess its financial viability.”
Ms Baker said the company had an outstanding Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal order, as well as outstanding debts including wages to staff, suppliers and contractors.
“Consumers should not pay any progress payments or fees claimed by the company to any other entities if requested to do so by any person claiming to be a representative of the company,” she said.
Fair Trading officers will be contacting customers of Regal Developments to provide them with advice but in the meantime any consumers who have any complaints or inquiries about the company should contact Fair Trading on 13 32 20.
