New plumbing compliance officer for Mid-West

Department of CommerceThe Plumbers Licensing Board has appointed local Geraldton plumber Jim Bowbridge as its new technical compliance officer for the Mid-West region.

Board Chair Judy Seif said the new appointment reflected the board’s determination to provide a comprehensive audit and inspection service throughout regional Western Australia.

“Last year we appointed a compliance officer in the South West, both officers will be supported with regular compliance visits from metropolitan based compliance officers,” Ms Seif said.

The board is also scheduling several compliance visits throughout the year to various regional locations, along with a range of technical information evenings in key regional centres.

Ms Seif said the forums presented an excellent opportunity for licensees and other stakeholders to meet board members and branch staff to discuss issues of significance in the industry, including technical matters, legislative changes and current work practices.

Ms Seif said Jim Bowbridge is a welcome addition to the Plumbers Licensing Board team, with 35 years experience in the plumbing industry.

“Jim is on home soil in the Mid-West, settling in Geraldton more than 20 years ago after working in South Australia, Queensland and overseas. He has also previously taught plumbing apprentices at Geraldton TAFE,” Ms Seif said.

He will take up his new position towards the end of June, and will be based at the Department of Commerce Mid West Regional Office in Durlacher Street, Geraldton.
