Garage World licence expires
Fair Trading Commissioner Lyn Baker advised the public (and subbies!!!!) that the contractor licence of Ryan’O Constructions Pty Ltd, trading as Lismore Garage World, had expired and would not be renewed.
Ms Baker said Ryan’O Construction Pty Ltd had held licence number 134270C to supply and erect sheds and garages.
“That licence expired on 13 June 2009 and has not been renewed due to five outstanding orders issued by the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal,” she said.
“All the orders relate to Mr Ryan consenting to refund consumers’ money.”
The company's sole director and qualified supervisor is Geoffrey Ryan and the company premises are at 137 Union Street, Lismore NSW.
Ms Baker said Fair Trading investigators had received advice from Mr Philip Emms, the owner of Garage World, that he had served a letter of termination of franchise agreement on Ryan’O Construction Pty Ltd.
“Mr Emms has advised Fair Trading that Mr Ryan’s company can no longer sell Garage World products or use the name Garage World,” she said.
“Fair Trading has advised Mr Ryan that Ryan’O Construction Pty Ltd cannot contract for supply of residential kits or residential building work or carry out residential building work.”
Ms Baker said consumers should seek legal advice before making any further progress payments.
