Contracts awarded for claim and policy services
WorkCover NSW Acting CEO Rob Thomson today announced that the existing seven workers compensation scheme agents will continue to operate in the WorkCover Scheme for the next five years.
“Agents operating in the NSW WorkCover Scheme provide workers compensation claims and policy services to employers and injured workers across the state,” Mr Thomson said.
“The new contracts will commence from January 1, 2010 and build on the existing performance-based contracts that have been in place since January 2006,” he said.
The new contracts more closely align the remuneration paid to scheme agents with their performance in key areas.
Around ten per cent of the policies and open claims within the WorkCover Scheme will be moved between scheme agents during 2010.
“The distribution of policies and claims is designed to more closely align market distribution with agent service capacities, improving service delivery to injured workers and employers,” Mr Thomson said.
Once the transfer is completed at the end of 2010, the distribution of policy and open claims is estimated to be:
“The new contracts will increase stability in the New South Wales workers compensation market, encouraging workers compensation scheme agents and other service providers to improve performance,” Mr Thomson said.
“I congratulate the Scheme Agents and look forward to working closely with them to build on the achievements of the last four years to deliver further service enhancement to our stakeholders,” he said.
