WorkSafe weathers global economic storm
WorkSafe Victoria’s 2008/09 financial and operational results show that the scheme has delivered the lowest levels of workplace injury on record, continued record-low employer premiums and a solid performance from insurance operations.
WorkSafe Chair Elana Rubin said the results further cemented Victoria’s reputation as having Australia’s safest workplaces.
“In 2008/09 the number of injury claims fell to a new record low of 28,689 or an injury rate of 10.8 claims per 1000 workers, also the lowest on record,” she said.
“That’s a performance we know we can better, however, it is also one that our employees, Agents and all Victorian workers and employers can be proud of.”
“Our results reflect determined efforts to out-perform in the key areas of safer workplaces, responsive services and competitive employer premiums,” Ms Rubin said.
WorkSafe’s strong claims management also enabled a Performance From Insurance Operations (PFIO) of $277 million despite tough global economic times.
